Flamenco del Pueblo Viejo would like to bring the talented and spirited Vicente Griego for a cante workshop and our Christmas Concert! Please help us get Vicente here in Tucson!

TUCSON'S FLAMENCO COMMUNITY IS BLOSSOMING AND IT SHOWS. WE WANT TO CONTINUE THIS GROWTH BY BRINGING A REAL FLAMENCO CANTAOR - VICENTE GRIEGO - TO PERFORM WITH OUR STUDENTS AND TO OFFER HIS KNOWLEDGE AND PASSION FOR FLAMENCO IN WORKSHOP.

This special workshop is a great opportunity to study with one of the prominent flamenco singers in the US today and is essential for dancers, guitarists, and singers wishing to develop a deeper understanding of the art of flamenco.

About Vicente Griego:

Vicente "El Cartucho" Griego from Embudo , New Mexico has devoted his life to the study of cante flamenco, the art of flamenco singing. In 1992, Vicente began touring the US, Canada and Latin America, with the Jose Greco II Flamenco Dance Company, where he was mentored by Caño Roto singer, Alfonso "Veneno" of Madrid, Spain. Vicente performs regularly with Yjastros: The American Flamenco Repertory Company, the nation's premiere flamenco troupe. Vicente is also an instructor of flamenco cante for the Annual Festival Flamenco Internacional, the University of New Mexico's Flamenco Focus Program, and the National Conservatory of Flamenco.

CALO Media Exposure

A gathering place for the flamenco community
Artistic Direction: La Tania
2nd Wednesday of each month

La Tania presents "Fiesta Flamenca" as a new home for the flamenco community. Each month on the second Wednesday she invites flamenco lovers to gather to enjoy performances, flamenco inspired artwork, and relax in a casual cantina setting. Everyone is invited to participate in "juerga" style (improvisation) and to dance Sevillanas, Rumbas, etc. to DJ music. Visual artists working with flamenco themes can show slides of their work on a big video screen. To present your art work send a request to: latania@latania.org.
